She used to play basketball?

A few days ago, Tina said, "Let’s buy a basketball!" So we did yesterday. I do not play basketball, but she used to be part of the college basketball team. I am more interested in tennis but she was not interested.
She wanted me to "shoot a few hoops" but I would rather "shoot my D300"!
